I have been in the hair industry since leaving school at 16, working my way up the ranks.
It has long been a dream of mine to own a successful busy salon that people talk about and love coming to. I opened Blush in Birchgrove some 10 years ago and have seen it grow in front of my eyes with a lot of hard work and dedication.
I am very fortunate to have the very best of staff and have this year seen my second salon open in Llandaff village and am loving the salon along with its individual atmosphere and character.
All I have ever wanted is to offer the very best of warmth, hospitality and service so that my clients come back time and time again for the best hair treatment and pampering their money can buy.
This I feel I have achieved so far and intend to build and grow to headier heights and success.
I have been working at Blush since 2004. I have been a hairdresser for 18 years and I’m currently the salon Director at Blush.
I run a busy column and love making clients look and feel amazing with a variety of colours and cuts. I have built many strong relationships with my clients over the years and take pride in providing them with a wonderful experience at Blush.
I have been in the hairdressing industry for 10 years and working at Blush for 4 years. My favourite part of hairdressing is bridal hair which I was lucky enough to specialise in whilst working at a 5* resort on Hamilton Island in Australia last year.
I love being creative and producing editorial looks and have entered various competitions including reaching the finals of the Wella ‘Generation Now’ team in 2014.
After travelling in Australia for a year I really missed working at Blush and seeing my friends and clients every day. I am really loving being back and am now here to stay!
Front of House/PA
I have recently re-joined the Blush team as I just couldn’t keep away. It is a fun and fast environment to work in, with both the team and clients being so lovely. It is extremely rewarding and I love my job.
I have just started my apprenticeship with Blush and am so excited to get started with my training and learning new skills and techniques with the amazing staff and trainers at Blush.
I have worked as part of the Blush team for many years working up from an apprentice to Salon Manager.
I run the Llandaff salon and I also overlook all the colour training in the salon and take pride in seeing our new generation develop.
I am a Master Colour expert after passing my colour degree last year with distinction.. was the hardest year ever but totally worth it!
During my time at Blush I have been given the opportunity to travel and attend many courses which have included my unforgettable trip to Las Vegas and Arizonatime where I attended a huge industry event called Symposium.
I was also awarded Colour Technician of the Year by the National Hair Federation 2013.
My passion as you have probably realised is colour! I love it when I am challenged to do a complete colour change. It excites me when a client comes in with a challenge for me. I know they are going to leave with a smile on their face and it gives them back the enthusiasm to experiment with their hair again.
I also enjoy training our apprentices on colour, it’s very rewarding to see how they develop from novices to competent colour technicians.
In 2013 I certified as a great lengths hair extentionist specialist and now run a busy column literally transforming clients appearance in a matter of hours.
My job is a little bit amazing!!

I have been in the hair dressing industry for 10 years. I decided to train as a hairdresser following a long travelling experience in Asia and Australia and have been doing it ever since.
I do both men and women’s hair and both cut and colour. I couldn’t pick which one I prefer more as they are both equally as satisfying and important to your overall look.
I love to challenge my creative flare and thoroughly enjoy my job.
I have been a hairdresser for many years and joined Blush many moons ago. I have since had a family of 5 and love telling my clients all about them.
Hairdressing is my passion and I love my job completely.

Louise Mattey, 27, Blush Hair and Beauty in Cardiff – Artistic Director. I started hairdressing in 2006, fresh out of Art College. I found my home at Blush in 2012 and since joining, have been able to realise many of my aspirations because of the amazing support of the team and salon.
Working at Blush has exposed me to many opportunities to further my career. It’s great to be able to push the boundaries with my session and competition work and then feed some of that back into the salon floor. I thoroughly enjoy applying techniques I use every day in new and interesting ways and there is always cross-over between the two worlds.
As well as being a Artistic director I also really enjoy teaching and find it so rewarding for myself watching a younger generation of hairdressers come through and start perfecting their skills. Teaching has always been a passion and I hope that one day I can mentor people and inspire hairdressers like other great names in our industry have done for me.
I first started working at Blush in 2010. With my never coloured and over-straightened hair I definitely needed some guidance, and that’s exactly what I got. My passion for hairdressing grew instantly as I was working along side an amazing team, which I am very proud to be part of.
At Blush I was given the best training opportunities I could have wished for. I attended numerous courses to provide me with the best knowledge, including ladies cutting courses, barbering courses and a number of colour courses. As a salon we are provided with training sessions every few months, which allows us to keep on top of all the latest techniques.
I am a Great Lengths specialist, it is one of the most rewarding services to provide, completely changing somebodys’ whole image in just a few hours.
There are two questions a lot of clients and people ask… 1. What do you rather do cutting or colour? – my answer is both, I love getting my hands on a head of hair and completely changing the colour or cutting it all off. 2. I’m often asked do you ever get bored of cutting hair – my answer – no, how can anybody ever get bored of making somebody feel beautiful.
I absolutely love my job and could never be without my Blush family
